HEALTHY HAIR VOL. I – WASHING YOUR HAIR

Ladies and gents, how often are you washing your hair? I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that you’re washing it too often. You might be thinking to yourself, “WHATTTTT??? aslkfjxkcmkxcmsdoifvmdkl.” Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.

If you’re washing your hair every day, I’d say that’s a tad too much. MOST shampoos contain sulfates (i.e. sodium laureth sulfate and co.), which strip your hair of its natural oils, leading to dry, fragile hair.

Right about now, I’m sure some of you are wondering what to do if you have naturally oily hair and need to wash it frequently so you don’t become a smelly grease ball. For you folks (I’m included in this group), look for a ‘poo (shampoo) that doesn’t contain sulfates such as O’Douds or any shampoo from Soapbox.

Now let’s talk conditioner. Conditioners restore your hair’s oils, so they’re kind of important. For the most part, conditioners are going to have pretty similar ingredients, but be on the lookout for ones containing argan oil (AKA Moroccan oil), coconut oilavocado oil, and olive oil. These are super hydrating for your hair, making it look thicker and healthier. Fun fact: they can even repair some of the damage from bad ‘poo. My personal favorite is Mane ‘n Tail Herbal Gro Conditioner. NB: Avoid the Mane ‘n Tail Herbal Gro Shampoo…I’ll explain why in a later post.
